The Willow-Wren and the Bear

The challenge this week at Simon Says Stamp is to get inspiration from a Fairy Tale or Nursery Rhyme. When I was teaching, I loved to read Fairy Tales by the Grimm Brothers to my students and The Willow-Wren and the Bear was one of my favorites.

So, I had to use my Bird Builder Punch once again! (If you are new to my website and you look around, you will see that I love birds!) The Early Espresso Card Stock represents the bear, the red button-the fox, the vintage trim – the queen, and the bird-the King of the Birds. I even used a fancy flourish to represent the kingdom. I’ve made cards like this before in different colors, but this one is my favorite because there’s an underlying story behind it! Hope you like it as much as I do. this was such a fun challenge!

Cards & Things Challenge

This is the card I’m entering in the Cards & Things Challenge this week. The card was made with Very Vanilla Card Stock. I layered a piece of Tangerine Tango CS, which was embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, on the front of the card. I cut out a piece of First Edition Specialty Paper with the Top Note Bigz Die, cut off the right side of it, sponged the edges with Tangerine Tango Ink, and adhered it to the card front.  The bird, the bird’s wing and the branch were all punched out using the Build a Bird Punch. They were adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Happy Birthday was stamped on a small piece of the First Edition Specialty Paper and was cut out with scissors. Last, I added a piece of Victoria Crochet Trim and a button to match.  All products, except the button, are Stampin’ Up!

Here is one of the cards I made out of a Class in a Bag I was sent from Stampin’ Up! Everything to make this card and more was included, except a stamp set. So I used the flowers from the hostess set, Simply Sent. (You can only get this awesome stamp set by being a hostess at you own Stampin’ Up! Demonstration!)

Check out this ribbon! It’s theWild Wasabi 1-1/4″  Striped Grosgrain Ribbon from Stampin’ Up! (125059).  You can get a 10 yard roll for only $9.95,  or join one of my ribbon shares if you don’t need that much and want more colors!  (Keep scrolling down to see the ribbon shares.)

Challenges, Challenges!

All week I’ve been doing challenges on different websites.  This card is for Unscripted Sketches Challenge #125.

You all know how much I love the Bird Builder Punch! So here it is again. This time I’m using Peach Parfait Card Stock and Peach Parfait Designer Series Paper. I love this color, too! I embossed the paper with the Finial Press Embossing Folder and also used the Modern Label Punch.

I Just Can’t Get Enough!

I just can’t get enough of the Gently Falling Stamp Set out of the newHoliday Mini Catalog! One of the great things about this set is that the leaves can be stamped in greens or in fall colors.

I made this card for the Splitcoast Stampers Wednesday Sketch Challenge.

The card is made out of More Mustard Card Stock. It was layered with a slightly smaller piece of Crumb Cake CS that was first embossed with theVintage Wallpaper Folder. I stamped and embossed the leaf with Gold Embossing Powder on More Mustard CS, then cut them out. They were each adhered (with Dimensionals) to 3 seperate rectangles of Chocolate Chip CS, which had all been stamped in VersaMark with theEn Francais Background Stamp. The 3 panels were then equally spaced and adhered to the panel of Crumb Cake CS. A piece of Hemp Twinewas knotted on both ends and adhered to the bottom of the card withCrystal Effects, which will hold just about anything. The sentiment is from the Creative Elements Set and was stamped in Chocolate Chip Ink on Crumb Cake. It was layered with Chocolate Chip and More Mustard CS and adhered (with Dimensionals) to the bottom of the card over the twine. I love it! Hope you all do, too.

Halloween is Coming Soon!

Only a few days left in September…And only a few days left until this months drawing for the Stampin’ Up! stamp set and other goodies! If you have not signed up for my monthly newsletters, now is the time to do it!

I’ve been seeing Halloween cards all over the internet. Here are a couple I made. Sorry the photos did not turn out clearly.

Although you can’t really tell, the cards are made of Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White Card Stock. The stamp is from the House of Haunts Stamp Set (all from Stampin’ Up!).

Made in Maine

Happy Labor Day, Everyone!
Here is one of the cards I’ve made since arriving in Maine. I shipped three big boxes of my Stampin’ Up! stamp sets, card stock, paper, punches, my Big Shot (of course) and other supplies up here from Florida. That’s not including what I’ve purchased since I got here. I’m going to have even more toys to ship back home! I will be having a couple of classes before I leave here to go and this is one of the cards we’ll be making.

Don’t you just love the Elements of Style stamp set? It’s one of my favorites!
The flowers were stamped in Cherry Cobbler onto Whisper White Card Stock. The Whisper White panel was then run through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. I wrapped ribbon around the middle of the panel, added a bow, adhered it to a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock, then adhered that to a white card. The sentiment is from the Three Little Words stamp set. It was stamped and cut out with the Scallop Oval punch. I also cut another small piece of Cherry Cobbler with the Decorative Label punch, adhered those two pieces together, and then adhered them to the card front with Dimensionals.
The picture didn’t come out very good and doesn’t really do the card justice. It’s beautiful! I am going to be making several sets of this card using different colors and sentiments. Then I will make a box for each set so I can give them away as gifts. So, So easy!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day. Terry

Summer Flowers

I love the new triple layer punches in the Summer Mini Catalog! It’s like getting 3 punches in one and they can be used in so many ways.

On this card, I used the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch (122464) to make the flowers. I punched the flower layers in So Saffron, Melon Mambo, and Pumpkin Pie Card Stock and mixed and matched the colors. The bottom layer of the flower was adhered to the front of the Whisper White panel (which was embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder (117335) with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110775). The top layers of the flowers were adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430) after rhinestones were added to the centers.

The stems of the flowers were stamped in Garden Green Ink on Garden Green Card Stock and cut out. They were also adhered to the panel with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. The panel was adhered to a piece of So Saffron Card Stock and then it was adhered to the the card front.

The greeting is from the Swirls & Curls Verses Stamp Set in the Summer Mini Catalog. (You can only get this set by being a hostess at your own Stampin’ Up! Card Party before August 31, 2011.) I colored the stamp with the same three colors used for the flowers and punched it out with the Extra-Large Scallop Oval Punch (119856). It was then adhered to the card with Dimensionals. So easy and so pretty!

The Open Sea 2

Here is the second card using The Open Sea Stamp Set. I embossed the ship in black on a piece of designer paper from the Nautical Expedition pack. The other two pieces of paper on the card front came from the same set. The card front was wrapped with a piece of twine and the anchor was embossed in gold and cut out. Both the panel with the ship and the anchor were adhered with Dimensionals.
I’m afraid everyone is going to get tired of seeing these stamps and designer paper!
