The Willow-Wren and the Bear

The challenge this week at Simon Says Stamp is to get inspiration from a Fairy Tale or Nursery Rhyme. When I was teaching, I loved to read Fairy Tales by the Grimm Brothers to my students and The Willow-Wren and the Bear was one of my favorites.

So, I had to use my Bird Builder Punch once again! (If you are new to my website and you look around, you will see that I love birds!) The Early Espresso Card Stock represents the bear, the red button-the fox, the vintage trim – the queen, and the bird-the King of the Birds. I even used a fancy flourish to represent the kingdom. I’ve made cards like this before in different colors, but this one is my favorite because there’s an underlying story behind it! Hope you like it as much as I do. this was such a fun challenge!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! Terry

Life is a Matter of Moments

This card is one of my all-time favorites!

When I first looked at the colors in the Fall Color Challenge over at Our Creative Corner, I thought, “Ugh, those colors won’t look good together.”  But, once I started putting papers together, I knew it was going to work!

I’ve been busy making cards with the other colors of DSP in the Spice Cake Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Mini Catalog, but hadn’t used this Old Olive Print until now.  (Every print in this package of DSP is gorgeous and I will be using every scrap of it!)

The card base is made with Cajun Craze Card Stock.  I took  slightly smaller pieces of Crumb Cake CS and the DSP, punched the corners with Ticket Corner Punch and adhered them together.  Then I added a brad to each corner of the panel and adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The smaller layer was done the same way, but  I added a piece of Victoria Crochet Trim to the front of it before adhering it to the card.  I stamped the flower from the Creative Elements Stamp Set 3 times with Chocolate Chip Ink onto Cajun Craze CS. Then I cut 2 of the images smaller so I would have a 3-layer flower.  I went over the edges of each petal with my Chocolate Chip Marker to make them stand out more and then added a few highlights with a Signo Gel Pen.  The 3 pieces were adhered together and to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I stamped the label with the dots from the Four Frames Stamp Set using the rock-n-roll method in Old Olive and Cajun Craze Inks, and cut it out with the Decorative Label Punch.  The sentiment was stamped in the middle of the label and then I sponged a tiny bit of the inks in the middle of it.  It is matted with a piece of Cajun Craze.  I just love the way it looks!  Hope you do, too.

All products are from Stampin’ Up! and can be purchased from my online store 24/7 by clicking on the “Order Stampin’ Up! Online” button in the right-hand column.

Cards & Things Challenge

This is the card I’m entering in the Cards & Things Challenge this week. The card was made with Very Vanilla Card Stock. I layered a piece of Tangerine Tango CS, which was embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, on the front of the card. I cut out a piece of First Edition Specialty Paper with the Top Note Bigz Die, cut off the right side of it, sponged the edges with Tangerine Tango Ink, and adhered it to the card front.  The bird, the bird’s wing and the branch were all punched out using the Build a Bird Punch. They were adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Happy Birthday was stamped on a small piece of the First Edition Specialty Paper and was cut out with scissors. Last, I added a piece of Victoria Crochet Trim and a button to match.  All products, except the button, are Stampin’ Up!

Fall is in the Air!

Here is another challenge card. This one is for the Stampin’ Up! Late Night Stampers Challenge 140.

The card is made withChocolate Chip Card Stock. The Peach Parfait CS panel was stamped all over with a leaf from the Gently Falling Stamp Set in VersaMark Ink and adhered to the front of the card. I then layered a smaller piece of Peach Parfait Designer Series Paperonto another piece of Chocolate Chip and adhered it to the left of the card. The truck stamp is from Loads of Love Stamp Set and the pumpkins are from the Loads of Love Accessories Set. (These two Stampin’ Up! sets go together. The Loads of Love Stamp Set has the truck, a Christmas tree, hearts, flowers, and sentiments to go with them – 7 stamps in all. The Loads of Love Accessories Stamp Set has a lady’s head, man’s head, pumpkins, dogs, presents, Easter eggs, furniture, and sentiments to match all of them – 12 stamps in all.) The truck and pumpkins were stamped in Chocolate Chip Ink on Naturals Ivory CS and colored with Watercolor Pencils. A little bit of Chocolate Chip was sponged around the bottom of the truck and then it was adhered to Chocolate Chip CS, as well. That panel was adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals and a Hemp Twine bow was added. I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of Naturals Ivory CS and cut it out with the Decorative Label Punch…Yes I know it’s a lot smaller than the punch. There’s a little trick to it very similar to the tiny oval I made on the card in the previous post! Two rhinestones were added to the tag and it was also adhered to the card with Dimensionals. I hope you like it!

Challenges, Challenges!

All week I’ve been doing challenges on different websites.  This card is for Unscripted Sketches Challenge #125.

You all know how much I love the Bird Builder Punch! So here it is again. This time I’m using Peach Parfait Card Stock and Peach Parfait Designer Series Paper. I love this color, too! I embossed the paper with the Finial Press Embossing Folder and also used the Modern Label Punch.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day. Terry

I Love Spice Cake!

Yes, I love the new Spice Cake Designer Series Paper out of the Holiday Mini!! In my last post, I talked about how you always get a few pieces of paper you don’t really like when you buy packs or pads of paper. Well, let me tell you that this pack of paper from Stampin’ Up! is awesome! There is not a single sheet that I don’t like. I will be using every scrap of this paper! Here is a card I made using some of it, along with the newGently Falling Stamp Set which is also out of the Holiday Mini. It’s a set of 12 images that can be used together to create beautiful leaves.  I stamped this leaf with one of the outline stamps on More Mustard CS and then I used an altered “thumping” method on it!  Instead of thumping with my Stampin’ Write Markers on the stamp, I thumped them on my card stock BEFORE I cut out the image.  Then I went over the “veins” on the image with my Chocolate Chip Marker to make them stand out more.  I love the way it turned out!

Speaking of the Holiday Mini Catalog…Have you seen it? I will be getting everything in it! It’s the best mini from Stampin’ Up! yet. They have really outdone themselves this time. Did you see the new stocking Die and the stocking punch? I’ll definitely be using them for my Christmas cards and decorations. Did you see that beautiful medallion wreath? I can’t wait to make one for Fall with the Spice Cake Designer Series Paper. Just click on the button in the right-hand column to see it now.
