Paper Players Challenge

Don’t you just love Challenges? I know I do! You are given a sketch to follow. You choose the paper, stamps, inks, etc. that you want to use on your card, scrapbook page, etc., and then you go to town!
I made this card for the Paper Players Sketch Challenge #65 this week.

The card is made out of More MustardWhisper WhiteGarden Green Card Stock, and Pear Pizzazz Designer Series Paper. The flowers are from the Simply Soft Stamp Set and the sentiment is from the bottom half of the “S” is for sympathy stamp in theOccasions Alphabet. (This alphabet set not only has all the letters, but as a sentiment to go with each one. You also get 26 sentiments that can be used separately! It’s on page 171 Stampin’ Up’s 2011/2012 Idea Book and Catalog.)

Want to know how I got that small oval for the sentiment? I stamped the image on a scrap of Whisper White CS and punched with the Stampin’ Up! Scallop Oval Punch!

Because the punch is way too big for what I wanted, I had to make some adjustments.

Here’s how you do it:
After stamping the sentiment, place the card stock into the punch sideways with the words close to the right-hand side of the punch.

Then adhere the punched piece to a Post-it Note or a larger piece of card stock with a removable glue dot or tape to hold it. (This makes it easier to get the small piece lined up in the punch.) Place it back into the punch so that the words are close to the other end and the scallops in the middle are centered. Punch again and Whaa-laa, easy peasy!

To make the mat for it, adhere your punched out piece to a scrap of Garden Green Card Stock and do the same thing over. I just punch it a little bit larger.

The Old and the New – SUDSOL Challenge 162

One of the challenges on SUDSOL this week is to take an old card that you’ve done and remake it a little differently. Well, I love this card I made using one of the flowers from the Flower Fancy Stamp Set and gold embossing.

So, I just changed it a little bit and used a leaf stamp from Gently Falling and embossed it it gold. I also dry embossed this one with the Finial Press Embossing Folder, whereas I rolled the first one with the Very Vintage Wheel.

I think they’re both so elegant! Which one do you like best?

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day. Terry

Another “I Don’t Like this Paper” Card

Here is another card I made using designer paper that I didn’t like. The original paper had very pale pink and white flowers and I thought it looked too blah. So, I took my Rose Red marker and colored them. After that, the paper was just what I wanted! It matched the rosette I wanted to use and was a lot brighter.

When buying packages or pads of designer paper, there’s usually 1 or 2 pieces in them that you don’t really like. Don’t get rid of them…alter them to you liking!

Birds, Birds, and More Birds!

In case you all haven’t noticed, I love the little bird from the Bird Builder Punch (117191) and use it quite a bit. And since I love it so much, I’m going to offer it to you for 10% off until the end of September!! Just email me at: tduncan088@gmail.com, or call me at
(727)698-7509 to let me know you want it. It will be sent directly to your home address.
I also used the Elements of Style Stamp Set. The flowers were stamped in Rose Red Ink onto Whisper White Card Stock and I stamped the bird in Pacific Point Ink. The Pacific Point piece of card stock and a larger piece of Whisper White were dry embossed with the Petals a Plenty Embossing Folder. I used the “X is for EXTRA…That’s how special you are” stamp from the new Occasions Alphabet (This set is so cool…There is a sentiment for every letter of the alphabet!!) and punched it out with the Decorative Label Punch. I backed it with Pacific Point, added rhinestones, and adhered it and the bird to the card front with Dimensionals. Then I added a bow made with Rose Red Seam Binding and wha-lah, my card is finished!
Oh heck, I like this card so much, too…I guess I’ll also offer the Elements of Style Stamp Set (wood – #118611, or clear – #120045), the Occasions Alphabet (wood – #117090, or clear – #123598), and the Decorative Label Punch (120907)for 10% off, as well!
(See more cards using the Bird Builder Punch on here by scrolling down and looking at older posts.)

Time for Your Birthday!

Love These Girls!

Hello Everyone, Hope you are all doing well. I’m still in Maine and having a great time with family and friends here. The high today was only 63 degrees and it’s supposed to only get up the the low 70’s all week! A few of the leaves have already started to change colors, as well. I can’t wait to see the trees in a few weeks when all their leaves have changed…I know it will be soooo beautiful!
I’m still making cards and things. The photo came out a little blurry, but here is one of the cards I’ve finished.

It was made with So Saffron, Whisper White, and Tangerine Tango Card Stock. The So Saffron was embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Folder. The girls are from one of my favorite sets, The Nicest Things, and were watercolored with Stampin’ Write Markers. I used the circle from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack to cut out 3 pieces of Tangerine Tango CS to place behind the Bitty Buttons. I love this punch set and the buttons because the buttons are clear and you can make any color button you need just by punching the card stock in one of the 4 shapes and adhering it to the back of the button! Now, I don’t have to buy buttons in every color of the rainbow. I also punched out a strip of the Tangerine Tango with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border. (Another punch to have handy if you can’t afford to buy ribbon of every color.)
I still need to take photos of the other cards, but will get them on here soon.
Right now I’m working on one of Tim Holtz’s Configuration Boxes. Of course I’m using some of his products in it, but with a lot of Stampin’ Up, too. I can’t wait to show it to you all!

Thanks for stopping by!  Terry

Made in Maine

Happy Labor Day, Everyone!
Here is one of the cards I’ve made since arriving in Maine. I shipped three big boxes of my Stampin’ Up! stamp sets, card stock, paper, punches, my Big Shot (of course) and other supplies up here from Florida. That’s not including what I’ve purchased since I got here. I’m going to have even more toys to ship back home! I will be having a couple of classes before I leave here to go and this is one of the cards we’ll be making.

Don’t you just love the Elements of Style stamp set? It’s one of my favorites!
The flowers were stamped in Cherry Cobbler onto Whisper White Card Stock. The Whisper White panel was then run through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. I wrapped ribbon around the middle of the panel, added a bow, adhered it to a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock, then adhered that to a white card. The sentiment is from the Three Little Words stamp set. It was stamped and cut out with the Scallop Oval punch. I also cut another small piece of Cherry Cobbler with the Decorative Label punch, adhered those two pieces together, and then adhered them to the card front with Dimensionals.
The picture didn’t come out very good and doesn’t really do the card justice. It’s beautiful! I am going to be making several sets of this card using different colors and sentiments. Then I will make a box for each set so I can give them away as gifts. So, So easy!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day. Terry
