E is for Everything

I’m home from Maine now and I managed to bring back a cold with me, so I haven’t been doing too much. I did manage to make a couple of cards for some challenges. This card was made for the CPS-Card Challenge #241.

I used my favorite Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! again-Spice Cake! I used 3 of the designs out of the pack. This time I used Pool Party and Chocolate Chip Card Stock along with it.

I stamped one of the images from the Four Frames Stamp Set in Chocolate Chip Ink on the Pool Party CS and punched it out with the Decorative Label Punch.

The sentiment on the tag is from the Occasions Alphabet Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up! The set contains 26 stamps, one for each letter of the alphabet and a sentiment to go with it. It’s a very handy set!

I added a piece of Victoria Vintage Trim and 3 Basic Pearls to the card front. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day. Terry

Candle Wraps Make Great Handmade Christmas Gifts!

This is a candle wrap I made for a set of short candle pillars. These are so fast and easy to make and they make great gifts! You can do them for any season or holiday and make them any size you need.

Directions: I took a piece of Whisper White Card Stock and cut it so it fit around the candle holder with about 1/2″ extra. I rolled it with the Sparkle and Shine Jumbo Stampin’ Wheel (116542) using Real Red Ink. The Scallop Circles where punched out of Garden Green CS with the2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch(118874) and a dot of glitter was added to each scallop. The ornaments were cut out of Designer Paper (not sure from were because I’ve had it a long time) with the Ornament Punch(119847). I put Sticky Strip along the top of the Whisper White CS and added a strip of dotted ribbon the length of the card stock. Then I placed another strip along the side where the card stock overlaps in the back of the candle holder. The scallop circles were adhered to the front of the candle wrap with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and the ornaments were adhered to them with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I put a piece of Hemp Twine through the clasp of a small, clay Gingerbread Man ornament and tied it around the wrap, on top of the ribbon. It only took about 10 minutes and I was finished! I hope you give these candle wraps a try.

All the items in bold are Stampin’ Up. Go to my online store to order everything you need to make these candle wraps by clicking on the “Order Stampin’ Up! Online” Button in the right-hand column.

I am entering these in The Paper Players Red and Green Challenge #68 this week.

Tissue Box Cover

I love this paper! It’s only one of the 12 designs from Well Worn, a new Designer Series Paper Pack from Stampin’ Up. I wanted to make a tissue box cover for my son’s bathroom so I needed something masculine. This is what I came up with. I was kind of worried about the crochet trim but he really liked it!

I also used Pacific Point andCajun Craze Card Stock. The bird is from the Nature Walk Stamp Set and was stamped with Chocolate Chip Ink onSahara Sand Cardstock. I added some detail, cut it out, and adhered it the piece of Cajun Craze withStampin’ Dimensionals. The two antique brads are also from Stampin’ Up!

Another “I Don’t Like this Paper” Card

Here is another card I made using designer paper that I didn’t like. The original paper had very pale pink and white flowers and I thought it looked too blah. So, I took my Rose Red marker and colored them. After that, the paper was just what I wanted! It matched the rosette I wanted to use and was a lot brighter.

When buying packages or pads of designer paper, there’s usually 1 or 2 pieces in them that you don’t really like. Don’t get rid of them…alter them to you liking!

Great News!

I’m so excited (again)! Stampin’ Up! has decided to include one of my favorite stamp sets from the Occasions Mini Catalog that was not included in the 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog as write-ins until next year. I was so bummed when The Open Sea Stamp Set wasn’t included. It makes such nice masculine cards for all occasions. I’m including pictures of just a few of the cards I’ve made with this set.

Here is the ordering information:
The Open Sea in Wood (item # 123030)
The Open Sea in Clear (item # 123032)

My Altered Clipboard

When I first saw the paper in the Newsprint Designer Series Paper Pack, I knew I was going to be altering a clipboard with it to “define me”.  Since I was a teenager, I have been altering items to show all kinds of things that I love, things I’ve seen, places I’ve visited, favorites…Just anything that reminds me of me. Things change from day to day, so I never run out of ideas! I make sure that every time I make another item, I explain it to my family. That way, they have something else, besides my scrapbooks, that describes me and my life and that they can use to help them tell my story to their children and grandchildren. I have been trying to get them to make things like this for their children, but no luck with that, yet!

I used Modge Podge to adhere a piece of Basic Black Cardstock to the front of the clipboard. Then, I cut out several words, small articles, and pictures from the Newsprint Designer Series Paper that mean something to me for one reason or another. The heading on one piece of paper was perfect for my title…The Story. I also used stamps, tags, and other embellishments that added to my story. These were all adhered to the cardstock with more Modge Podge. When everything was dry, I added one last layer of Modge Podge to protect the surface of the clipboard. After a final drying, ribbon and a piece of spiral wire were added as final touches.

My clipboard is hanging on the wall right above the table in my craft room where I can see it everyday. If you have never done anything to “tell your story”, this is just one idea you can use. Make several items and give them to your children or family members as gifts. They will love it!

Don’t you just love sponged and brayered backgrounds? I know I do! This one was done by sponging Perfect Plum, Tangerine Tango, Peach Parfait, Rose Red, Daffodil Yellow, and So Saffron Inks over the tree image which was first embossed in black on the Whisper White background.

This was so much fun to make!

Beautiful Butterflies

I know. I’ve been really slow in posting the cards from my card classes and I’m sorry. I will try to do better! I’ve been so busy with classes, kits, John Sanpietro’s stamping classes, and family that there’s not enough time in the day to get everything done. I’m really enjoying my 4 grandchildren that live in the area this summer before I go to Maine to visit the 3 that live there.

Here is one of the cards from a class I did last week. It is made using the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die (114507), the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die (118123), First Editions Specialty Paper (121878), and Crumb Cake Cardstock (120953). You can order these supplies by clicking on the “Order Stampin’ Up! On-line Button” in the right-hand column.

Please leave me a comment…I love reading them! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day. Terry
